Learning outcomes: Knowledge: can compare and determine the difference between nuclear and mitochondrial genomes of different species of animals and plants; knows the methods of mapping and sequencing genomes [BI_W07, BI_W09, BI_W11, BI_W12, BI_W15, BI_W17][BI_W04, BI_W11, BI_W12, BI_W15, BI_W17], knows the structure and function of proteins in the cell, has a general knowledge of the techniques of protein identification [BI_W11,BI_W12, BI_W14, BI_W16, BI_W17], knows the techniques of gel electrophoresis of proteins; knows the concept of denaturation, proteome, etc. [BI_W04, BI_W07, BI_W08, BI_W09, BI_W11, BI_W12, BI_W14, BI_W15,BI_W16, BI_W17];[BI_W08, BI_W11, BI_W12, BI_W16, BI_W17]. Skills: can use the selected databases of genomic sequences, can analyze the differences in the structure of simple genomes and determine the functions of the various elements that build them [BI_U01, BI_U04, BI_U05, BI_U09, BI_U13, BI_U14][BI_U03, BI_U04, BI_U05, BI_U07, BI_U11], acquires the ability to prepare denaturing gel, can perform protein electrophoresis in denaturing conditions and in native methods [BI_U02, BI_U04, BI_U05, BI_U07], gains skills of the relevant computer programs used to analyze the spatial structures of proteins [BI_U01, BI_U03, BI_U04, BI_U05, BI_U07, BI_U11, BI_U13, BI_U14] Social competences: The student knows the rules for safe working in a genetics laboratory [BI_K07], Student is aware of responsibility for the entrusted laboratory equipment, he or she takes part of common research team work [BI_K02],
Assessment methods and assessment criteria: Completion of the course: written exam, minimal amount of knowlegde for positive grade is 60%, final grade will be compounded of practial part and lectures.
