Prerequisites:
Contact person: dr hab. Heliodor Wierzbicki, prof. nadzw. heliodor.wierzbicki@upwr.edu.pl
Short description: Lectures are focused on giving a student theoretical knowledge on estimation of genetic parameters, prediction of breeding value as well as assessment of effects of selection. In the computer lab students estimate genetic parameters, predict breeding value and estimate genetic trend.
Full description: The overall purpose of the course is to provide students with theoretical knowledge and practical skills concerning genetic variation in populations of animals bred by human and methods used for evaluating the breeding value, selecting animals, mating and crossbreeding animals and estimating heterosis effects.
