Short description: On the subject students will be introduced to the data sets occuring in animal and plant breeding. Additionally basic statistical methods and packages will be introduced.
Full description: After course student can use three statistical software (SAS, R and MS Excel) in the context of animal breeding. The student will have knowledge about data analysis and visualization especially for large data sets which are typical for animal breeding.

Learning outcomes: After course completion In area of knowledge 1. The student has a basic knowledge about mathematics and statistics. 2. The student has a basic knowledge about production of animals and plants. 3. The student can use a knowledge from agriculture sciences. In area of skills 1. The student can use basic information technology in acquisition and data processing for Animals production and zootechnics. The student (together with lecturer) can do basic research project for zootechnics and animals breeding. 2. The student can do projects from Animals breeding and zootechnics and has a basic knowledge about calculation of breeding value of dairy cattle. In area of social competences 1. The student can work in the team in different positions. The student knows that should improve his skills from animals breeding and zootechnics.
Assessment methods and assessment criteria: Based on the (three-part) tests. In the first part test from MS Excel will be carried out, in the second part from SAS and in the third part from R. To get a credit in each part of the test one need to obtain at least 50% of total points.
